i have finally been able to recount my experience for p. as he requested.  (i did need some time for i wanted to verify everything with Myrtle, one of my spirit guides.)  Myrtle works quite slowly and often would rather crack wise with vulgar remarks about Linus and sausages.  This makes it very tiresome to work with her, but her memory is the most tenacious despite her rather crude leanings in humor.  perhaps she might enjoy an evening following rich sauces. . . .

can’t talk very long today, i must be off to deliver some sandwiches to Mr. Kipp & Mr. Trunch.  They are 2 old dears that were close friends to my grandfather and have played very important parts in the early years of the SBE.  I had despaired of getting them interested in much of anything these days, as they mostly grouse about and only leave their house between the hours of 2:47-3:59 am. (due to an admonishion that Mr. Kipp once read in a fortune cookie)  This limits their socialization quite a bit and for some years, they have appeared to be in a decline.  As a desperate attempt to interest them  in something outside of sandwiches, I introduced them to the internet some time ago, and most remarkably, they have both grasped onto it with speed and relish!  Linus does regret their love of the internet, for they call him constantly with technical difficulties that he must sort out for them.    And he helped them set up their own blog, complete with a photo from their own cupboard.   Today they also promise me a meeting with their new neighbor, who they have only described as “sprightly”.  We shall see!

imagine my surprise to get a note shoved under my door this morning. . . a note with very familiar handwriting, and a small crumpled violet.  linus is here in the city!  he’s staying in a walk-up flat over the estonian restaurant (the kama kafe) on erasmus st.  he got a grant studying estonian food  to better promote “the reputation of estonian cusine abroad”!!!!  of course, his true love is digitizing WWI service records for the national archives, but he took this job because of me. . . . . leaving this behind. . . .

after all these years, we are together for more than a few hours.  i’m so nervous!

i got a very stirring letter from linus today.  (he is my boyfriend that lives in estonia) in it he discusses very frankly his thoughts on soulmates!  let’s just say it was very promising.

i had a strange meeting with p yesterday– i do not trust him.  i can’t get into it now!

work has been very slow lately, since my boss Cornelius is on an unexpected trip to Togo on the trail of a former member of the Society that appropriated some of Cornelius’s more valuable artifacts.  I am enjoying the rest from work, though the boardinghouse has been far from quiet.  in fact, there has been a lot of ruckus going on.  sootystemps has been busy banging around in the storage space, and someone else sounds like they are wrestling in the hallways at night.  in fact i hear something now quite troubling———-

suspected. board spun off of table and darted under the bed, and could not be coaxed out.  windows blew open and a small squirrel came in with it– nigel ushered the poor creature back out after quite a mad scramble.)

I have not previously felt the need to introduce myself, and my hours are such that I am often precluded from social activities.  I did allow Nigel the satisfaction of arranging our meeting.  I am eager to see what parts these two play in the events encircling the boarding house and St. Astrug’s.

More later— I have a tedious pile of transcribed ouija board messages from 2/15/56 to type out and prepare for Mme. Goubard still this evening.
